Circus making its way to Westfield Hawthorne Mall

The Kelly Miller Circus, sponsored by the Vernon Hills Lions Club, will be performing all new acts at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17.

Tents and attractions will be set up in the Westfield Hawthorne Mall parking lot near Sears, with tent-raising at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 16. The tent-raising itself is a free show and the public is invited.

The circus will feature elephants, horses and a cast of international circus stars under a big top.

This event is a fundraiser for the Vernon Hills Lions Club. By buying tickets in advance, the public can save money and support the Lions Club's year-round projects, including providing eye glasses and hearing aids for needy families.

Advance tickets will be sold at the village hall Monday through Friday; at the Sullivan Center Monday through Saturday; and at a kiosk in Hawthorne on weekends.
