Algonquin

•A teen was taken into custody at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday at Meijer, 400 S. Randall Road. Brittany Navarro, 17, of 10127 Ashley St., Huntley, was charged with retail theft, police said. Navarro posted $100 and was released with a Sept. 26 court date in Woodstock.

Elgin

•An employee of Meijer, 815 S. Randall Road, was arrested after he printed store coupons at his cash register and then used them at other cash registers, according to a police report. Between Aug. 6 and Tuesday, police said, he used the coupons to get $272.43 worth of products at no cost and received $228.57 in cash for purchasing less than the coupon amount, the report said. Eugenio Gomez, 19, of 330 Illinois Ave., Elgin, was charged Friday in court with retail theft, theft and deceptive practice. According to court records: Gomez told police he received the coupon code while he was helping the pharmacy department. He said he didn't print coupons for other employees, but he did give two other employees the coupon code. Gomez posted a $1,500 bond Friday morning and was released.

•Closed circuit television at the Grand Victoria Casino caught a woman at 3:15 p.m. Thursday placing a fraudulent bet. She was playing three-card poker and added $100 to her bet after she saw her hand, which was a royal flush, according to a report. If she had won, she would have collected $5,000. Maria Feliz, 41, of 619 South St., Rolling Meadows, was charged with gambling fraud, police said. She posted a $500 bond Friday morning and was released from custody.

•Parts of a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe were stolen on either Wednesday or Thursday from an auto dealership lot on the 1300 block of East Chicago Street. The hood, front bumper and grille were removed from the vehicle, which was parked in a fenced in lot. The lock to the gate of the fenced in area also was taken, and the driver's-side window of the sport utility vehicle was smashed. The case has been turned over to the major investigations division of the Elgin Police Department.

•A laptop computer and its accessories were stolen between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Thursday from an apartment on the 0-100 block of South Liberty Street. Police said the burglar had to enter through the front door, because it was the only door to the apartment.

•A global positioning system valued at $700 was stolen between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday from a 2007 Ford Explorer parked in the driveway of a residence on the 2600 block of Boxwood Drive. Police said the burglar smashed the front passenger-side window to gain entry to the truck.

West Dundee

•Even though it was raining between 4 and 5 p.m. Thursday, car burglars were still active. A radar detector, a subwoofer and a backpack were stolen from two vehicles parked in the Fashion Corner parking lot. An in-dash stereo player was stolen from another vehicle parked on the 100 block of West Main Street.
