Townhouses now going up in Wheaton

Construction is now under way and sales are expected to begin soon at Blanchard Court, Airhart Construction's new community of 18 low-maintenance townhouses in Wheaton.

Located between downtown Wheaton and downtown Glen Ellyn, Blanchard Court is on a parcel of land within an established neighborhood one block from the Metra train station and a shopping area.

"We looked closely at this location in the heart of DuPage County. We realized that this area lacked low-maintenance townhouses for people on the go who wanted a midpoint address between Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, but who didn't want the maintenance and upkeep that comes with owning a single-family home," says Court Airhart, president of Airhart Construction.

Blanchard Court is expected to attract those who desire an active lifestyle as well as an easy commute within a short walk or drive to area shops and restaurants.

The first phase of construction will consist of seven townhouses, for which sales have started.

Select from two tri-level designs: The Jonathan, a middle unit, or The Charles, an end unit. Both floor plans include two bedrooms, 2½ baths, two-car garage, and a finished garden room with a high-efficiency furnace on the lower level.

The main level features a kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances. The kitchen can be situated in either the center or back of the Jonathan design. It also features a dining room, hearth room and a powder room. The upper level hosts two bedrooms, with the option for a third.

Base prices will start in the $390,000s and both plans offer about 1,800 square feet.

"The design of these townhouses will reflect the Arts and Crafts movement both in terms of the painted trimwork and the overall style," says Whelan. The grounds will be professionally landscaped and first move-ins are expected next spring.

Blanchard Court in Wheaton is located at the intersection of Avery and Blanchard. Until the models are ready for touring, sales will be conducted at Airhart's Mackenzie Model home at 2004 N. Stoddard Ave. in Wheaton.
