Elgin's home to new Heritage Series single-family houses

A new phase of Heritage Series single-family homes is open at West Point Gardens in Elgin.

West Point Gardens is a community featuring Traditional Neighborhood Design with signature features including front porches and enclosed back yard gardens. Developed by Hinsdale-based West Point Builders, the community is reminiscent of American small towns with a traditional environment.

Located in the Randall Road corridor, 173-acre West Point Gardens will include 128 townhouses and 342 single-family homes in two series. Eleven model homes that include themed gardens are open for tours. The gardens are sold either as a package or with the buyer's choice of elements.

The community focal point is Meier Park, with several pocket parks dotting the neighborhood. One of these is Curran Commons in the newest phase of Heritage Series homes.

"The parks are linked by walking and bicycling paths that wind through the neighborhood, and while Meier Park is the recreational center of the community, Curran Commons is an oasis of greenery for pedestrians as well as providing views for the buyers of these sites when they relax on the front porches of their homes," says Dan Urben, vice president of sales and marketing for West Point Builders.

Other elements of West Point Gardens that create a more livable environment for residents are garages at the rear of the homes, sidewalks that enable residents to walk to the parks and a planned convenience shopping area and trails that will connect to schools and the Fox Valley Bike Path.

Meier Park features a covered pavilion and gazebo, playground equipment, lighted tennis courts and basketball courts as well as baseball and soccer fields.

Sites overlooking Curran Commons are available in four designs in the Heritage Series. Homes range from 1,841 to 2,307 square feet and including three or four bedrooms, 2½ baths, basements, enclosed gardens and two- or three-car attached garages grouped around motor courts.

One of the plans features a first-floor master bedroom. In addition, prices include the gardens equipped with a concrete patio, privacy fence, sodded lawn and landscaping. Prices range from $324,990 to $349,990.

The Middlebury plan is a three- or four-bedroom home with 2,167 square feet of living space in a two-story design.

A deep front porch opens to the two-story foyer and living room of the Middlebury. The staircase with landing separates the living room and dining room. To the rear, the family room has views of the garden, and the kitchen and breakfast nook wrap around the side of the garden area. The kitchen includes a planning desk, pantry, optional island and access to the garden. The laundry room and coat closet are in the hall that leads to the garage.

The second floor is highlighted by the master bedroom overlooking the garden. The master bedroom includes a tray ceiling, walk-in closet and private bath. Two other bedrooms and a hall bath complete the plan. A loft is available instead of the two-story living room. A deluxe bath with soaking tub and separate shower is available is an option for the master suite. The Middlebury also includes a basement and a two- or optional three-car garage and is priced from $338,990.

In addition, the Middlebury is one of the designs that can include an upstairs plantation porch. The model home is shown with a loft and lower and upper porches.

In addition to the Heritage Series of single-family homes, the Kingston Series includes five single-family designs, ranging from 2,398 to 3,264 square feet, with three to five bedrooms, 2½ baths, basements, enclosed gardens and two- or three-car attached garage at the rear of the homes accessed by side drives or grouped around motor courts. Prices vary from $379,990 to $424,990.

Five townhouse plans include 1,278 to 1,790 square feet with two or three bedrooms, 1½ to 2½ baths, lofts, family rooms in some plans, 9-foot first-floor ceilings, full basements, brick exteriors, two-car garages and private gardens. One plan offers a first-floor master suite. The townhouses ensure freedom from exterior maintenance. Prices range from $237,990 to $299,990.

All homes at West Point Gardens include central air conditioning and ceramic tile on foyer floors and in all bathrooms. A sampling of other features included in the Kingston Series homes are 9-foot first- and second-floor ceilings; choice of wood or ceramic tile in foyers; kitchens with oak cabinets with 36-inch uppers with crown molding and master baths with soaker tubs, separate showers and raised vanities with double bowls.
