Donovan Court townhomes

Amy Goodman and Dan Giddens don't have much of a commute.

All they have to do is walk up a flight of stairs and they are home.

Goodman and Giddens are not only partners in a national financial wholesale enterprise, but also newlyweds and owners of a new townhouse at Donovan Court in Woodstock.

The first-time home buyers discovered Donovan Court after searching for a new home that could accommodate their growing business, Green Arrow Distributors, and support their busy traveling lifestyle.

And they wanted to stay in Woodstock.

It took only one visit to Donovan Court with its 38 luxury townhouses in the heart of Woodstock, for the couple to fall in love with the community and its maintenance-free living.

They selected the Aberdeen raised-ranch floor plan, a two-bedroom unit with a loft and an oversized two-car garage.

The developer, The Bradford Company of Palatine, provided the couple considerable leeway in the home's design and features, resulting in what Giddens called "the perfect all-in-one place to live, work and play."

The middle level features a customized kitchen, large great room, two bedrooms and two baths.

Upstairs on the third level, there is an airy loft with two separate areas that are used as a craft room and additional bedroom.

The couple established their business office in the light-filled lower-level family room, which other buyers have used for extra entertaining space.

"As our business began to grow, we looked for a home that could accommodate our work needs, but at the same time offer a luxurious escape at the end of the day," Goodman said. "When we're done with work and head upstairs to take in the wooded views, business matters are quickly out of sight and out of mind."

As the primary cook of the household, Giddens is partial to the kitchen.

"The kitchen has that professional, gourmet look and is flooded with natural light throughout the day," he said. "It flows into the great room and out to the deck, making entertaining a breeze. We look forward to many celebrations here."

While the floor plan was appealing, ultimately it was The Bradford Company's flexibility in design that swayed the couple.

"We really felt like we were a team collaborating with The Bradford Company on the creation of our new townhouse. Their attentiveness provided us with great peace of mind," Giddens said.

Donovan Court offers three different designs. Base prices start in the $170,000s and sizes range from 1,622 to 1,878 square feet.

The Donovan Court sales center is located at 775 Donovan Ave. To visit, take Route 47 north (three blocks past Route 120) to Donovan Avenue; head west approximately one mile to the sales center on the left.
