Bicycle Club of Lake County: The Bicycle Club of Lake County will sponsor a Singles Ride at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 and Oct. 27 at Old School Forest Preserve, St. Mary's Road, north of Route 60 and about ½ mile south of Route 176, Libertyville. The ride is for singles of all ages interested in cycling. It is an easy 12-15-mile trail ride at a conversational pace of 12 mph; no one will be left behind. Meet at the trail parking lot, first lot on the left side on the one-way loop road. Helmets are required. Socializing after the ride. Racqueteers: Racqueteers, a tennis social club for single adults, holds summer picnics Sunday and Sunday, at Wood Oaks Park Tennis Courts, 1500 Sanders Road, Northbrook. Mixed doubles. North Suburban NeedleArts Guild: "Felt Making Yesterday and Today" will be the topic of Michelle Sales' lecture during the monthly meeting of the North Suburban NeedleArts Guild being held at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 4, at Gloria Dei Church, 1133 Pfingsten Road in Northbrook. Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Judea: The Sisterhood's first social program of the year will be painting ceramics at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 5 at ArtWerks, 445 Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove. Barrington/Northwest Community Associates: The Barrington/Northwest Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago will sponsor its annual fall membership tea, at 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 S. Guest speaker Jennifer Hereth will analyze the relationship of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and explore the myth of women muses as wives, mothers and/or seductresses. Luggage for Freedom: A collection for the Chicago North Shore Section of the National Council of Jewish Women's "Luggage for Freedom" project will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9, in the Jewel parking lot, 1600 Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Gently used towels, sheets, blanket, backpacks, children's books and new toiletries and stuffed animals will be collected. No luggage at this site. The Luggage for Freedom project provides gently used luggage packed with towels, sheets, blankets and new toiletries to women leaving local domestic violence shelters. Lac des Illinois Chapter, National Society Colonial Dames, XVII Century, meets quarterly. Membership is open to any American woman, 18 years of age or over, who has been invited to membership and is the lineal descendant of an ancestor who lived and serve prior to 1701 in one of the original Colonies. Garden Club of Inverness: At 9:30 a.m. Sept. 20, the Garden Club of Inverness will hold its first meeting of the season at All Saints Lutheran Church, 630 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. After a brief business meeting and refreshments, Lucille Barnas, a master gardener from the University of Illinois extension service, will provide professional guidance on preparing the garden for fall and winter. ANAD: The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders offers support groups across the North Shore for those suffering from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder. With national headquarters in Highland Park, ANAD is the oldest and largest nonprofit agency dedicated to preventing and alleviating the problems of eating disorders. The organization also focuses on public education and awareness.
