District 202 might have new leader by year's end
Lisle school board members hope to name a replacement for retiring Superintendent Peter Lueck by the end of 2007.
"We really as a board want to move quickly," member Sam Russo said. "We don't want to be in a situation where it's March and April and we still don't have a superintendent. It does take time to bring a person on board."
Members discussed a timeline for the search for a new schools chief at a special meeting Monday evening.
Lueck, 55, has led the district for 11 years. He began his career as a third-grade teacher in Elgin Area School District U-46, the state's second-largest school system. During 23 years there, he served in various positions from teacher to principal to an area superintendent within the district.
The board hired School Exec Connect to lead the search. In the next couple of months the company will interview staff and community members to construct a profile of whom the district would like to hire. The firm will present its findings at the October board meeting.
Interviews could begin in early November and the school board could hire a new superintendent by the end of the year, Russo said.
"(Lueck) has led us incredibly well over the last dozen or so years," Russo said. "It's really going to be over come June of next year, and we have to prepare for that. So it's excitement mixed with sadness that goes with any of these kinds of searches."
