Lightning softball tryouts this weekend at Judson
The Northern Illinois Lightning fastpitch softball teams will hold final tryouts for the 2008 summer season this weekend at Judson College in Elgin.
Combined tryouts for both the 16U and 18U Lightning will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon, and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Tryouts will be held rain or shine and will be moved indoors in case of rain.

Fox Valley Renegades fastpitch softball tryouts: The Fox Valley Renegades girls fastpitch softball program will be holding tryouts for the 2008 summer season on Saturday and Sunday for its 14U, 16U and 18U teams.
Tryouts will be held at Jockey Field on Third Street in East Dundee. All 14U players will attend from 9:30-11:30 a.m., while 16U players will attend from noon-2 p.m. For 18U players, tryouts will run from 2-4 p.m.

FVSA to host baseball/softball leagues: The Fox Valley Sports Academy will conduct its 7th Annual fall baseball and fall softball leagues beginning in September. Team entries are separated by age, with divisions available to baseball players ages 8-18 and girls fastpitch softball players 12U to 14U. There are separate baseball 'In House' and 'Travel Team' divisions for 10-11 year olds and 12-13 year olds.
Fall league teams play a 10-game regular season and schedule and, in addition, are entered in a randomly seeded single elimination tournament at the end of the fall season. Fall league games will be played at Elgin-area fields with the fall season ending mid-late October.
Cost per player is $125 for baseball and $110 for softball with a twelve-player minimum roster requirement. The fee includes game balls, umpires, hitting and pitching clinics for younger age divisions as well as a hat and jersey for baseball division entries. Softball teams will play weekend doubleheaders.

Crystal Lake Cardinals 2008 baseball tryouts: The Crystal Lake Cardinals will be holding baseball tryouts for players ages 13-17 at Crystal Lake High School on August 26.
Tryouts for 13 year olds will run from noon until 2:30 p.m. and from 2:30-5 p.m. for 14 year olds. For 15 year olds, tryouts will run from 5-7:30 p.m. and the 16-17 year old American Legion players will tryout from 5:45-7 p.m.

Fox Valley Royals 17-18U baseball tryouts: The Fox Valley Royals 14 & under Baseball Club will be holding tryouts for the 2008 Future Team on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. at Judson College.
All players wishing to tryout are expected to be in attendance unless prior arrangements are made. The tryouts are open to anyone 18 years of age or younger who does not turn 19 before May 1, 2008. The team will be coached by professional coaches and will also play in several other area tournaments.
