Briefs: Men recovering after crash
Two DeKalb men were on the mend Thursday, one day after a car crash in Elburn put them in the hospital. Michael Zepeda, 49, was listed in good condition at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, and Robert Wilson, 51, had been released from Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, spokeswomen said. DeKalb resident Sharon Dolby-Beck, 42, who police said also was hospitalized, was not listed as a patient at either hospital. The three were hurt when the Volkswagen Jetta they were riding in was hit by a Cadillac STS about 2 p.m. Wednesday at Keslinger Road and Route 47. The Cadillac driver, Stephen Hopkins, 56, of Batavia, was not injured, according to police. The accident is under investigation. Police have said charges may be filed.
Farmers market open
The St. Charles Farmers Market at Fourth Avenue and East Main Street, near Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Items for sale include fresh produce, fruit, cheese, eggs and flowers grown in Kane County. Call (630) 584-6680 for details.

Brush pickup in Batavia
The next brush pickup for the west side of Batavia will be Monday. Pickup is limited to limbs 12 feet long or 10 inches in diameter, and they should not be put it bags or tied. The next east-side pickup is Sept. 10.
AID needs your help
The Association for Individual Development's Crisis Line of the Fox Valley is recruiting volunteers. Training classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 4 to Oct. 30 at 1230 N. Highland Ave. in Aurora. Training prepares volunteers to provide supportive counseling to a broad spectrum of callers. Call Cheryl at (630) 966-4304. Depot Deals in Geneva
The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission will hold a community Depot Deals garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Metra station south parking lot on Third Street. Donations are currently being accepted.
The name Depot Deals was selected to encourage a wide range of sale items and not limit the sale to items normally found at garage sales. Vendor spaces are still available.
