McHenry County invites lawmakers to 'Road Rally'

Federal, state and local officials will team up with area business leaders and residents Friday to highlight McHenry County's horrific traffic congestion and call on Gov. Rod Blagojevich and state legislative leaders to invest more in McHenry County's roads.

The McHenry County Better Roads Coalition, a recently formed group of government and business leaders promoting road improvements in McHenry County, will host a "Road Rally" at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cornish Park, routes 31 and 62, Algonquin.

Invited speakers for the rally include U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Barack Obama (D-IL), U.S.; Reps. Don Manzullo (R-Egan) and Melissa Bean (D-Barrington); McHenry County's state senators and representatives; and local officials and business leaders.

The rally will be emceed by Bill Dwyer, former McHenry County board member and Transportation Committee chairman who now chairs the McHenry County Better Roads Coalition.
