Art exhibition focuses on the human body

Woodstock's Old Court House Arts Center is presenting "EveryBody," its sixth annual figurative art exhibition, through Sept. 30.

The show features the human face and figure as depicted by local artists. As always, the Workshop For Contemporary Artists and Claymirth will be showing concurrently.

One of the highlights of the late summer exhibition is the gala reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 25, which coincides with Woodstock's Artwalk on the Square hosted by local merchants.

"EveryBody" will showcase the paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography of 30 local artists, many of whom will be available to meet at the reception.

"Claymirth and Friends 2007" will feature the works of 11 potters from the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St Charles, for whom "pottery is a passion." Both functional and sculptural pottery will be exhibited, including a variety of firing methods.

The 2007 annual offering by the Workshop For Contemporary Artists is called "Sliver of Light." Viewers who have followed the eight female artists will not be disappointed in the variety of interpretations of this direct but hazy theme.

The Old Court House Arts Center, 101 N. Johnson St., is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For details, call (815) 338-4525.
