Streamwood police still investigating fight

Streamwood police continue to investigate a late-night fight in an apartment building that led to a SWAT team being called in.

The SWAT team was brought in after the presence of a gun was alleged during a fight that broke out just before midnight Tuesday on the fifth floor of 5021 Valley Lane.

No weapon was found in the building, though the search for a suspect continued into late Wednesday.

Police Commander Randy Hart said numerous individuals were apprehended running down the stairwells of the building. Three of them were later deemed victims of the incident.

Although all three claimed physical injuries, only one -- a 25-year-old man from elsewhere in Streamwood -- required treatment at the hospital for lacerations.

That victim claimed he'd been struck in the head by a shotgun carried by one of the three men he and his companions were in the altercation with, police said.

Because of the man's report that the offender with a gun ran into one of the apartments, the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System's Emergency Services Team was called in at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday.

A search of the building was conducted. It was declared secure at 5:48 a.m.

No charges had been filed and no one was in custody late Wednesday. But police are searching for a specific individual known to the victims and not merely a person fitting a description, Hart said.
