The program is scheduled to begin Aug. 22 and run through the entire school year, and is open to kids in afternoon kindergarten through sixth grade. The after-school program includes homework time, sports, games, crafts, swimming and rock climbing. Children will be bused to The Centre each day after school, and can be picked up at 6 p.m. Registration is at The Centre, 100 Symphony Way.
U-46 may swap insurer:
The Elgin Area School District U-46 Health Care Committee is recommending Aetna Inc. replace UnitedHealthcare as the third-party administrator for the district's health care program. Aetna would administer an HMO, a traditional PPO, a high-deductible PPO with a health savings account (replacing the current health reimbursement account), the pharmacy program, the dental program, the employee assistance program, flexible spending accounts and other ancillary health care programs. The arrangement is subject to the approval of the U-46 school board and would be effective Jan. 1.
