Des Plaines seeks appraisal:
Des Plaines aldermen have hired a firm to appraise the site they're interested in buying for a new police station. Aldermen Monday night voted 7-0 to hire Gibbons & Gibbons Ltd. of Chicago to appraise the Littelfuse Inc. site, 800 E. Northwest Highway. The firm will appraise the entire property and the cost of retrofitting the current building on the site to be the new home of the police station for no more than $13,000, officials said. Police officials say they lack space in their current, 30-year-old location at 1420 Miner St.
Kids clinic in Hoffman:
The Hoffman Estates Health and Human Services department is hosting a back-to-school children's clinic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the lunchroom at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road. The clinic is for children two months to 18 years old, and is intended for uninsured or underinsured patients. Immunizations and check ups are available at low cost. Shots are $5 for Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg Township and Hanover Township residents, and $7 for non-residents.
Rotary chooses leaders:
The Rotary Club of Barrington recently announced its new leaders for 2007-08. The Rotary Club president is Burke Groom; president- elect is Michael Pinter; treasurer is Joseph Connelly and secretary is Art Cramer.
