Power outages affect thousands
Power outages left 18,560 ComEd customers in the dark around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Customers in parts of Downers Grove, Woodridge and Lisle were without power; by 6 p.m., power was restored to all but 2,000 of those customers, ComEd spokesman John Dewey said.
A separate power outage around 7 p.m. left 4,500 Hinsdale customers in the dark after the original outage, he said.
Dewey said "multiple spans" of wire came down, causing the original outage, but officials were still investigating what made the wires fall. The second outage may have been caused by the switching to restore the first outage.
About 350 customers in Downers Grove and Lisle and 3,000 customers in the Hinsdale area were still without power around 10 p.m., but were expected to be restored by late Monday or early Tuesday, he said.
