Dairy Queen burglar staying in Wisconsin
Fox Lake police said a Wisconsin man has been charged with robbery after sticking up Dairy Queen one month ago.
Nathaniel Johnson, 28, of 24327 74th St., in Salem Wisc., has been charged with robbery, a class 2 felony, for robbing the ice cream parlor on June 21.
However, due to charges pending for Johnson in three different towns in Wisconsin, it could be a long time before Johnson returns to Illinois to face a judge for his crimes.
Lt. Jeff Norris said police identified Johnson through composite sketches released in the area shortly after the robbery took place last month.
He said, shortly after a warrant was issued, he was contacted by authorities in Rock County, Wisc., and told Johnson was in jail for violating parole.
"He's also wanted up north in Kenosha, Racine and Lake Geneva for similar robberies," he said. "So we are last in line."
Norris said Johnson ordered ice cream and pretended to pay for it before grabbing money out of the register and fleeing the building.
Johnson fled north along Grand Avenue and jumped into a waiting white Mercury Grand Marquis.
Jamie Nagel, 19, of 100 Oakwood Dr. in Antioch, has also been charged with a misdemeanor count of robbery for driving the Grand Marquis, Norris said.
She is out on bond and is expected to appear in Lake County court on Aug. 14.
"She claims she had no knowledge of what Johnson was doing," he added.
