"Soft Rains" is presented at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Steel Beam Theatre, 111 W. Main St., St. Charles. This is a rock musical based on the story of Noah. Tickets are $25 for adults and $23 for seniors and students. Call (630) 587-8521.

The St. Charles Farmers Market opens at 7 a.m. at Fourth Avenue and Main Street alongside Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown St. Charles. The market offers produce, eggs, meat, flowers, plants, cheese, honey, arts and crafts.

A cruise night auto event is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Houston Street between Island Avenue and River Street in Batavia. It is motorcycle night.

Saturday

Gallery 44 "Artists on the Fox" exhibit is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, through Aug. 29, at the Dellora A. Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road. St. Charles. The exhibit is free and contains works of Joyce Reuland, Cheryl Holtz, Ginny Gaura, Anne Von Ehr and Scott Harding. The Campton Hills Farmers Market is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Campton Square Shopping Center, southeast corner of Route 64 and La Fox Road. Meat, produce, flowers and other products are sold.

Shakespeare in the Park is at 6 p.m. on Island Park, Route 31 and Route 38, in Geneva. The Midsummer Theatre Troupe will present a free production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Before the play begins, the junior and senior performing company of State Street Dance Studio in Geneva will perform. Bring blankets, chairs and picnics. Donations will be solicited. Free parking is available at the lot on First Street.

"Paintin' The Fence" is at Pottawatomie Park Riverside Amphitheatre at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, 8 North Ave., St. Charles. It is a musical based on Mark Twain's famous Tom Sawyer adventures, performed by a cast of 15 middle school students from Rising Star Theatreworks. Tickets are $5 for those 18 and over, $3 for children ages 3 to 17, children 2 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased at the Pottawatomie Park's Community Center.

Sunday

The Geneva French Market is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crescent Avenue parking lot just north of the Metra station on Third Street. Shop for flowers, produce, baked goods, gourmet cheeses, jewelry, linens and more. It runs Sundays through October.

The Elburn Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the north parking lot of Lions Park, 500 Filmore St. It runs Sundays through Sept. 30. The market features meats, produce and baked goods. Call (630) 365-6315.

Learn about the dishware used on passenger trains of the past in a presentation at 2 p.m. at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. Jay Christopher and Dan Smaczny will present on the Christopher Transportation China Collection. The cost is $2 for nonmembers and free for members.
