Bartlett Fine Art Fair: The Bartlett village hall has opened a small art gallery on the second floor, and the first exhibit previews the 2007 Arts in Bartlett Fine Art Fair.

The free exhibit features 17 works in a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, sculpture, mixed media, photography, fine woodworking and jewelry.

The gallery, 228 S. Main St., is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The fifth annual fair has will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 28-29 in Bartlett Park at North and Oak avenues. More than 50 artists displayed work at last year's event, which included food vendors, a wine garden, dance programs and musical groups.

Peace and Goodwill: Goodwill Industries International Inc. recently opened its newest retail store and donation center in Bartlett, 1420 S. Route 59.

Goodwill said 90 percent of total revenue from the sales of donated items is used to provide funding for vocational training and other programs.

Because the store accepts donations year-round, the village announced it won't hold a separate clothing and household goods collection this year.

The Goodwill store operates seven days a week. For details, call (630) 837-1410.

That time of year again?: Don't panic, it's only July. But it's never too early to think about the upcoming school year, and the Hanover Park Park District is reminding residents of its Before & After School Club.

Programs are open to students at Horizon, Ontarioville, Laurel Hill, Hanover Highlands and Parkwood schools and take place at the Ahlstrand Fieldhouse at 6900 Catalpa Road. Greenbrook School also hosts its own B/ASC.

Kids can attend the club before or after school every weekday or select days. For details, call the Hanover Park Park District at (630) 837-2468 or visit www.hpparks.org.
