Knights to sell goodies at fair

The Knights of Columbus councils of Bloomingdale, Warrenville, Wayne, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield will raise funds for local charities during the DuPage County Fair from Wednesday through Sunday in food building #1 by the Expositon and 4-H buildings, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton.

During the morning, the members will sell coffee and doughnuts and then cream puffs and water from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Panel discussion planned Thursday

Millikin alumni plan student send-off

Millikin University and the Millikin Club of Chicago is holding its annual family picnic and new student send-off party from 1 to 3 p.m. July 29 at the Salt Creek Park large pavilion in Wood Dale. The event is for university alumni, friends and new students and their families. Those attending are asked to bring a dish with meat to pass; drinks and tableware will be provided. SCARCE needs more volunteers

School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education, SCARCE, is seeking volunteers for its Book Rescue, Tools for Schools and Super Crayons projects at the center, Roosevelt Glen Corporate Center, 799 Roosevelt Road, Building 2, Glen Ellyn.

The agency sends recycled books and donated educational equipment and materials around the world and also makes crayons for those with special needs. To volunteer, call (630) 545-9710.

DuPage Foundation seeks applications

The DuPage Community Foundation is accepting applications for its 2007 fall discretionary grant cycle for Arts & Culture, Education and Environmental Affairs through 5 p.m. Aug. 3. The grants are available for not-for-profit organizations serving DuPage County residents. First-time applicants are encouraged to call and discuss their projects before applying. The American Field Service, AFS Intercultural programs as a non-profit international exchange program connection students from abroad with host families in the U.S., is seeking families in the Chicago area to host high school students in their homes from August through the school year in June.
