Free health fair to include screenings, learning center

Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists Ltd. is sponsoring a free community health fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Fox River Grove office at 1009 Route 22.

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital will conduct free screenings for osteoporosis, BMI, blood pressure, and smoking cessation from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Zimmer Mobile Learning Center Touring Bus, a high-tech environment for presentations and education to the community will be on location from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The touring bus will facilitate special presentations and will be available for the public to view the newest advancements in joint replacements and alternatives to joint replacements.

Special presentations will be conducted by Dr. James R. Bresch on cartilage transplants, Dr. Samarjit S. Jaglan on adolescent scoliosis and spine problems, Dr. John H. Lyon on living with arthritis, alternatives to hip and knee replacements, and new developments in hip replacement surgery.

Physical therapist Michael K. Geimer, PT, Dip, MDT, will present "Dealing With Everyday Back Pain" and "Golf Conditioning" sessions.

What kind of shape are you in? Meet with Angie Ninis, a certified personal trainer, ATC, to maximize your workout, learn to use the vibration platform and learn the proper use of general exercise equipment. There also will be a questionnaire for exercise recommendations.

Foot Solutions of Kildeer will provide screenings by a licensed, certified pedorthist from 8 a.m. to noon.

Screenings will include computerized foot analysis, gait analysis and recommendations for footwear and foot care.

All activities are free and open to the public. Free refreshments will be provided.
