Apple Sour Cream Pie
Streusel topping 1/3 cup white sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/4 pound cold butter 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely choppedFilling 3/4 cup sugar2 tablespoons flour3 eggs1 1/2 cups sour cream1 teaspoon cinnamon1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon grated lemon zest 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon salt4 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced (about 5), see note1 9-inch unbaked pie crust (prepared or your favorite recipe)For the streusel: Combine white sugar, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Toss with walnuts and refrigerate.Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9-inch pie pan with pie crust.For the filling: Combine sugar, flour and eggs. Whisk in sour cream, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon zest, nutmeg and salt. Fold apple slices into mixture. Turn into pie shell and bake on bottom rack of oven for 20 minutes.Remove from oven; sprinkle streusel over the top and return to oven for 25-30 minutes more or until topping is crisp and browned.
