Ashley M. Pomplin, 24, of Geneva, faces two counts of battery, for an incident at her home at 1:37 a.m. Oct. 4, according to a police report. Police say she hit a man in the face and neck with her fist, and that she bit someone in the neck and left knee. She was also charged with criminal damage to property for damaging a cellphone.

Jordan L. Orchard, 19, and Wesely L. Nicolay, 18, both of St. Charles, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and underage drinking at 11:01 p.m. Sept. 29 after authorities were called to Anson Creek and Wyngate roads near St. Charles for a suspicious vehicle that was blocking an intersection and had its lights off, according to a sheriff’s report.

A resident of the 50W300 block of Main Street near Elburn lost a wallet between 2 and 3 p.m. Sept. 22, according to a sheriff's report. The woman got locked out of the home and tried to use a credit card to get back into the home but failed. She then walked to a gas station, realized that she left the wallet outside the home and returned to find it missing.

The site of recent mold on the St. Charles East High School campus may be demolished if Unit District 303 school board members choose the cheapest option presented to them Thursday night. “If we’re looking over the next 5 or 6 years at spending over $4 million, that’s a considerable amount of money,” Jim Gaffney said about some options. “And some of these expenditures have caught us a little bit off guard.”

The Kane County Sheriff's Department said Thursday afternoon officials from a Chicago area hospital contacted them to say a missing 20-year-old St. Charles woman was at their facility.The name of the hospital was not released.Lt. Patrick Gengler said there was at least one possible sighting of Tanner Conroyd in downtown Chicago Tuesday morning, and that tips had been received in the 24 hours since Conroyd's disappearance was publicized.

Two people were arrested at 10:24 p.m. Saturday in the Sauer Forest Preserve, 44W705 Lasher Road, Sugar Grove, after a caller reported seeing someone in a car injecting themselves. William H. Mollohan, 25, of the 2S200 block of Harter Road in Elburn, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a sheriff's report. Nichole I. Nortman, 24, of the 500 block of Birchwood Drive in North Aurora, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of needles and hypodermic syringes, and possession of cannabis.

A resident of the 0N200 block of Brundige Road near Elburn thwarted a home burglary at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, according to a sheriff's report. The resident was awakened by his dogs barking, opened a door and saw a man trying to leave while carrying a flat-screen television. The resident said, "Let's make this easy, just leave," and the man put the TV down and ran out the door. A description of the would-be burglar was not available.

Fire protection district will update conditions Aug. 1 Jul 23, 2012 12:00 AM
The Fox River and Countryside Fire/Rescue District has banned outdoor burning in Wayne, Campton and St. Charles townships, and also in the villages of Wayne and Campton Hills. The fire chief said fireworks have also caused several recent fires that threatened homes.

Saying putting Clifford McIlvaine in jail “would not accomplish anything,” Kane County Judge Thomas Mueller Friday said he will impose fines on the St. Charles man if he doesn't start meeting deadlines on his 37-year home addition project. Mueller said that from Friday forward, McIlvaine will be fined $100 a day for each additional day the project remains behind schedule.
