    Hanover Township is looking for nominations for its annual Principal of the Year award. “Principals work to better the lives of our youth, which can often be a thankless service,” township Trustee Howard Krick said in a news release. “This is a great opportunity to nominate these leaders in recognition for all the hard work they do in our children’s schools.”

Other winners in committeeman races were Democrat Steve Caramelli in Hanover Township, Republican Char Foss-Eggemann in Maine Township and Democrat Matt Flamm in Palatine Township.

    Hanover Township will host a spring craft show and bake sale Friday and Saturday, April 11-12. More than 20 vendors will sell handmade products like quilts, scarves and baked goods over the two-day event.

Teenagers will learn how to respond to tough situations and weigh the consequences of their choices, said Nicole De Falco, a member of the township Committee on Youth.

     
  • Hoffman Estates approves $35,000 contract for Smash Mouth Mar 4, 2014 10:25 AM
    Hoffman Estates trustees have approved a $35,000 contract for the internationally known rock band Smash Mouth to perform as the headline act at Northwest Fourth Fest on Saturday, July 5. The San Jose, Calif. band, whose songs include such late ‘90s hits as “Walkin’ on the Sun” and “All Star,” will receive the majority of the $50,000 budgeted for main stage entertainment — which includes seven other acts over three days.

Faced with budget constraints, trustees opted to join Elgin in cutting ties with the sprawling Fourth of July celebration held on the grounds of the Sears Centre. "We weren't getting the return on investment," Trustee Ed Zimel said.

Route 59. Restaurants also will compete for the title of “Best Pizza of the Tri-Village Area.”
