Hanover Township to host March 12 Property Tax Savings Seminar

Hanover Township Assessor Khaja Moinuddin and Supervisor Brian P. McGuire will host a tax saving exemptions seminar at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59, Bartlett.

The Cook County Assessor’s Office will present on the basics of the property tax system and the different types of property tax exemptions available. Residents can learn how to check which exemptions were applied to their property and find out which exemptions automatically renew. A question-and-answer session will also follow the presentation. Registration is not required.

“We often receive many inquiries about exemptions, whether it be the Homeowner, Senior Freeze or Veterans with Disabilities Exemptions, the process can be confusing and complex,” said Hanover Township Assessor Khaja Moinuddin. ‘With this seminar, residents can learn how to properly complete applications, identify local resources for assistance, and ask questions.”

Exemption applications for tax year 2023 are now available at cookcountyassessor.com/exemptions. Property tax savings from exemptions are only reflected on the second installment tax bill. Residents seeking assistance in completing the application can attend the seminar or visit the township Assessor’s Office, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett, during office hours.

The seminar is also co-sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison.
