Learn benefits of meditation at Feb. 12 program in Naperville

Feeling restless but you don't know why? Seeking to begin or expand your prayer practice? Heard of meditation but don't know much about it or how to go about it?

Then plan to attend "Meditation: Expanding Body, Mind and Spirit" from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the Lighthouse room at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road in Naperville.

The program, featuring four panelists, will provide information about various forms of meditation along with the opportunity to experience them.

Centering and contemplative prayer, lectio divina, mindfulness practice and the labyrinth will be among the types of meditation that will be explored.

Meditation, itself, is an ancient spiritual discipline practiced across many faith traditions. Over time, its practice can yield physical and psychological benefits as well as spiritual ones.

Panelists for the presentation include clinical psychologist Charlotte Dillon, Ph.D., MPS, and SEP; spiritual director Betsy Ludwig; Diana Malon, a St. Thomas parishioner who practices contemplative prayer; Chari Rosales, director of adult faith formation at St. Thomas; and psychotherapist and pastoral counselor Bill Utz, LCPC.

"Meditation: Expanding Body, Mind and Spirit" is part of St. Thomas' Wellspring series of programs co-sponsored by the pastoral care and adult faith formation departments.

The series presents interactive educational experiences whose goal is promoting a wholistic way of life that includes body-mind-spirit integration and well-being.

Reservations are encouraged to ensure seating. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door.
