Immanuel-Batavia track team places at state meet

Immanuel Lutheran School in Batavia participated in the 29th annual Lutheran Sports Association State Track and Field Meet on May 19-20 at Concordia University Chicago in River Forest.

Sixty-one schools competed.

Batavia sent 12 athletes who achieved qualifying times and distances during their season.

Notable individual performances included eighth-grader Jacque Schroeder placing third in the discus throw, eighth-grader Natalie Zagorski finishing seventh in the triple jump, and a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash for seventh-grader Alyce Williams.

Both the girls' 4x400 and 4x800 received recognition, with fourth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively.

Relay members included eighth-graders Caroline Hager, Keri Krivograd and Natalie Zagorski, and seventh-grader Alyce Williams.

Other qualifiers on the girls' team were eighth-graders Alexis Abel and Kelly Wenzel, and seventh-grader Caroline Schroeder. Batavia also sent four male participants to Concordia: qualifiers were eighth-grader Cam Gruel, seventh-grader Jack McCormick, and sixth-graders Colin Bittner and Sean Heetland.

Cam Gruel narrowly missed the podium with a ninth-place finish in the triple jump.

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School is located at 950 Hart Road, one block south of Pine Street in Batavia.

Summer programming includes summer sport camps, summer enrichment classes, Summer Sing and Play, vacation Bible school, and the huge annual indoor garage Sale.
