No auditions needed to join Fox Valley Orchestra Chorus' 'Beer Choir' April 21

The Fox Valley Orchestra Chorus will hold Aurora's first Beer Choir Saturday, April 21.

What is Beer Choir? Just what it sounds like, a choir that sings and drinks beer! But you don't have to audition and there are no rehearsals. You don't even have to buy a ticket. All you must do is show up ready to sing and enjoy a frosty glass or two. Soft drinks also are available and even encouraged.

Beer Choir is a social phenomenon that is really catching on. Beer choirs started popping up in the U.S. in 2015. There are currently 17, sort of official chapters across the country. Two are in the Chicago area. According to the Beer Choir website "the mission is to make our world a little bit better by singing and drinking together. The vision is that, together, we might find ways to infuse choral singing into several other "tribes" of people."

There is no challenging sheet music, but they do have a hymnal. No music reading is required or even necessary. They will provide the hymnal, the piano player and an ersatz conductor, actually more of a chorister.

Just come and have fun at the Beer Choir from 6 to 8 p.m., or later, at Two Brothers Roundhouse, 233 N. Broadway, Aurora. For more information, call (630) 891-2526 or email jrgaglione@gmail.com.
