SAVE-A-STAR Drug Awareness Foundation Launches Fundraising Efforts for Drug Awareness Exhibit

Fundraising efforts are now officially underway to construct the first ever permanent Drug Awareness Exhibit Center in the northern suburbs. The goal is to raise the $2.5-million by donations at www.gofundme.com/saveastar-org. The Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation is a 501(c) (3) public charity.

"We are excited and proud to announce our plans to build the very first permanent drug-education and bullying exhibit right here in Chicagoland for adults and children," said David Katz, one of the founders of the Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation.

"Donations for this project at www.gofundme.com/saveastar-org will be used to design and construct an eye-opening exhibit about the consequences and the damaging effects of drug experimentation, abuse, addiction and bullying," said Katz.

The innovative drug education exhibit will total approximately 7,000 square feet of space and be called "Drugs: The Damaging Effects." The goal of the exhibit is to bring powerful messages about the destructive impact of drug abuse on communities across our nation.

"As of this past week, we are happy to announce we have the support of the Lake County Regional office of Education. The schools are eager to sign-up to tour the Save-A-Star exhibit when it opens in 2019," Katz noted.

Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation was founded in 2007 by David and Gail Katz and their daughter, Melissa Katz Gold, following the death of the Katz's son, and Melissa's brother, Daniel, from an overdose of prescription drug medication. He was just 25 years-old. The goal of the foundation is to create drug awareness.

Prescription drug abuse is the nation's fastest growing drug epidemic. The Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation brings attention to the disease of prescription drug abuse and addiction by promoting awareness, education and resources.

The Foundation is committed to the safe collection and disposal of drugs as another means of minimizing the cycle of prescription drug abuse and addiction. The Drug Disposal and Collection Program is currently in 43 local police stations.

"With your help and support, the Save-A-Star Drug Exhibit will become a reality and will make a difference in the lives of our youth," said Katz.
