Dundee-Crown students to put on 'Mary Poppins' March 1-4

Dundee-Crown High School will present its spring musical "Mary Poppins" at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, March 1-3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the school auditorium, 1500 Kings Road in Carpentersville.

Tickets are $12 or $10 for students/seniors and are available online at dundeecrownmusical.com.

Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's "Mary Poppins" is full of fantasy and magic. Mary Poppins is the practically perfect nanny who helps us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that sometimes we should just use the winds of change to go fly a kite.

Featuring favorite Poppins tunes including "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Jolly Holiday," "Let's Go Fly a Kite," "Step in Time," and "Chim Chim Cher-EE," Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, and breathtaking dance numbers.

Director Andy Bero agrees, adding, "Each year that I direct shows at Dundee-Crown High School, I am humbled by the support from our students, parents, and community. This year, we're pulling out all the stops. We are so excited to share 'Mary Poppins: The Musical' with you."

The cast includes Rachel Lind as Mary Poppins, Chase Nelson as Bert, Lauren Turchan as Winifred Banks, Jack May as George Banks, Caitlyn Schmeiser as Jane Banks, Lofton Evitts as Michael Banks, Jenna Wolf as Miss Andrews, Chloe Kutulas as Mrs. Brill, Luke Janikowski as Robertson Ay, Rachel Ryza as Mrs. Corry, Jamie Stratton as Bird Woman, Nathan Stone as Bank Chairman, Edgar Escobar as Von Hussler, Nathan Koehlert as Northbrook, Kaylee Baumann as Miss Smythe, Chris Seymour as Valentine, Makayla Oda as Neleus, Jessica Matulac as Nirius, Luis Barbosa as Admiral Boom, Peyton Bartelt as Miss Lark, Macky Day as Park Keeper, Alex Stiefel as Policeman, Kyle Hansen as Katie Nanna, McKenzie Linden as Fannie, Alyssa Satterfield as Annie, Brynn Guth as Queen Victoria, Jessie Pagor as Teddy Bear, Logan Neuschafer as Mr. Punch, Amber Mathesius as Bunny, Gwyn James as Raggedy Ann, Milly Sangalang as Baby Doll, Sarah Yonamine as Elf, and Jennifer Acevedo as Statue.
