Dundee Library to host Summer Reading kickoff picnic June 6

The Dundee Library will host its fourth annual Summer Reading Kick Off Picnic at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 6m on the library's front lawn, 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee.

The picnic will star story-performer Chris Fascione. He acts out the best of classical and contemporary children's literature and folktales in fun-filled, participatory shows. His unique combination of storytelling, mime, juggling, and comedy creates colorful characters from literature who tell their stories as laughter abounds.

He will be here to kick off the library's "Reading By Design" summer reading challenge.

Bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic supper and enjoy the show, along with crafts, popcorn, lemonade, and a special treat. The event is free.

In the case in inclement weather, the event will be held indoors in the meeting room at the Dundee Library.

The Fox River Public Library District serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin, Elgin, and Barrington Hills.
