No injuries in Sleepy Hollow garage fire

Two vehicles were destroyed but no one was injured in a garage fire Friday morning in Sleepy Hollow, authorities said.

Rutland Township Fire Protection District Chief Rick Thomas said firefighters were called at 7:25 a.m. to a house on the 900 block of Holly Court for a fire in a two-car, attached garage.

The fire was quickly contained, and all of the occupants in the house were able to escape without injury, Thomas said. The fire did not spread to the house, although it must be cleaned and smoke odor removed before the family can return.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, but at this point, there does not appear to be signs of foul play, Thomas said. A damage estimate was not yet available.

Thomas credited several fire departments - East and West Dundee, Elgin and Carpentersville - for working "seamlessly" with Rutland at the scene.
