Northwest suburban police blotter

Buffalo Grove

• Burglars ransacked an unlocked 2011 Nissan Rogue overnight Oct. 17-18 on the 1300 block of Johnson Drive and stole a duffel bag valued at $50. It was found later on the ground. During the same time, burglars stole an iPad valued at $900 out of an unlocked 2016 Chevrolet Malibu on the 1100 block of Johnson Drive. During the same time and on the same block, burglars stole a set of golf clubs valued at $700 out of a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. Burglars entered two unlocked vehicles at another home on the 1100 block of Johnson Drive, but nothing appeared to be missing.

• Jordan D. Delgado, 18, of the 700 block of Harms Court, Wheeling, was arrested around 10:58 p.m. Oct. 5 during a traffic stop at 50 Lake-Cook Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The report said officers found LSD, marijuana, glass smoking pipe and two grinders in his car.

• Mayra Gutierrez, 27, of the 800 block of West Rand Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 10:28 a.m. Oct. 8 in a restaurant parking lot at 86 W. Dundee Road and charged with battery. The report said she hit a woman during an argument. Court date is Nov. 20.

• Thieves stole a gray 2010 Toyota Camry around 10 p.m. Oct. 12 from a condominium parking lot on the 600 block of Grove. A key was left in the ignition and the engine was running. The victim left the car in the lot while he went inside to get his jacket. Value was estimated at $8,000. The car was found around 1:23 a.m. Oct. 23 on the 1400 block of Park Avenue in Highland Park. Two female juveniles and one adult male were in the car. There was no indication if charges will be filed.

• Martin Gutierrez, 21, and Dustin Gutierrez, 18, both of the 400 block of Gregg Lane, Buffalo Grove, were arrested around 7:37 a.m. Oct. 10 at their home and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of marijuana. The report said a witness saw drug sales outside their home.

Des Plaines

• Burglars stole a cellphone between 6:45 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9 out of an unlocked 2012 Ford Focus in the parking garage at 648 Metropolitan Way.

• Three males were seen taking a 2011 Ford Fusion around 2:07 a.m. Oct. 10 from a driveway on the 1700 block of Dexter Lane. The car was unlocked and the keys were in a cup holder. The car was located crashed into a tree on the 1100 block of Everett Avenue. The offenders had disappeared. During the same time, two males were seen rummaging through an unlocked Ford Ranger in another driveway on the same block. Nothing appeared to be missing.

• A man was seen on a security video taking a green and black bicycle from the bike rack at the Des Plaines Library, 1501 Ellinwood. He was described as a white male, middle aged, 6 feet tall, bald with a goatee, and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

• Burglars stole a GPS unit between 11:45 p.m. Oct. 9 and 12:05 a.m. Oct. 10 out of a Toyota at a home on the 1900 block of Plainfield Drive. Value was estimated at $150.

• Steven Gaytan, 49, of the 1600 block of Sycamore Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 8:58 a.m. Oct. 8 in a mobile home park on the 800 block of East Oakton Street and charged with aggravated assault. Court date is Nov. 8.

• Thieves stole a blue 2017 Toyota Camry around 7:56 a.m. Oct. 9 from a lot at Advantage Car Rental, 2170 Mannheim Road. Keys were left in the ignition.

• Burglars broke into a 2012 Chevrolet Express van between 9 a.m. Oct. 7 and 8 p.m. Oct. 8 in a lot at Quality Building Solutions, 112 Touhy Court. and stole a GPS and wireless speaker

• A man was seen on a security video entering a locked condominium building on the 400 block of Western Avenue around 6:52 a.m. Sept. 26 when a UPS driver delivered a package to the mailbox area. The man was seen rifling through packages and taking one containing a check valued at $1,500. The suspect was confronted by a resident and he fled.

• Vandals used black paint to spray graffiti around 7 a.m. Oct. 9 on the concrete floor of a gazebo in Central Park, 1555 Thacker St.

• Thieves broke a taillight and stole the rear gate between 8 p.m. Oct. 13 and 10 a.m. Oct. 14 from a GMC Sierra pickup truck on the 400 block of Alles Street.

• A man stole a purse around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 14 out of a car in a Speedway gas station lot, 1199 Elmhurst Road. The victim and her boyfriend told officers they met the offender at a bar in Niles and agreed to drive him to his home. He gave them a false address and told the female driver he would reimburse her for the gas. The offender grabbed the woman's purse as he got out of the car and ran away. He was described as a black male, 30-40 years old, 6-foot-2, tall, thin build black goatee, and wearing a beanie hat, blue jeans and possibly a hooded sweatshirt.

• Thieves stole $32 around 7:40 a.m. Oct. 12 out of a customer's wallet at Shop 'N Save, 518 Metropolitan Way.

• Vandals used a marker to write several sentences between Oct. 4 and 6 on the south east wall at the library garage, 1444 Prairie.

• Thieves stole the high performance tires, wheels and rims overnight Oct. 11-12 from a Honda Civic on the 1400 block of Prospect Avenue.

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $380 between 5 and 5:20 p.m. Oct. 8 out of a shopping cart at Sam's Club, 101 W. Oakton St.

•Burglars broke window with a landscape brick between Oct. 6 and 9 at Southeastern Wholesale, 2410 Elmhurst Road, and stole a desktop computer, laptop computer and money. Loss was estimated at $2,700.

• Burglars stole $1,300 between 7 p.m. Oct. 9 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 10 out of an unlocked 2014 Nissan Altima in a driveway on the 200 block of University Lane.

Mount Prospect

• A man stole a cellphone and injured two people in an altercation after a traffic accident at Rand and Elmhurst roads. The report said the offender's Toyota Camry rear-ended a 2017 Jeep Cherokee on southeast-bound Rand Road around 10:21 p.m. Sept. 29. The offender, who remained in his car, told the male victim he would pay for the damage. The victim used his cellphone to take pictures; the man grabbed the cellphone and while the victim held on the offender put his car in reverse, knocking down the victim's wife by the open driver's-side door of the Jeep. The victim let go of his phone, and the offender drove away. The male victim suffered a chest contusion, and his wife had abrasions to her right knee and hands. The offender was described as a white male, 35-45 years old, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, bald and wearing glasses and a T-shirt.

• Alejandro Benavides, 26, of the 900 block of Shattuck Lane, Schaumburg, was arrested around 11 a.m. Oct. 6 on the 1800 block of Basswood Drive and charged with theft. The police report said a female resident had hired Benavides to clean the carpets in the home and noticed that her gold diamond necklace was missing from her jewelry box. She confronted him and he went to his truck and retrieved it, the report said. He told the officers that he took the necklace in a "moment of weakness," the report said. Court date is Nov. 15.

• Nicholas T. Siptrott, 31, of the 1600 block of Burning Bush Lane, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 1:42 a.m. Oct. 4 near his home and charged with possession of a controlled substance and on a warrant for battery.

• Burglars stole a saw and drill bits between 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 6 a.m. Oct. 3 out of a 2017 Ford Transit Connect van on the 1500 block of Larch. Value was estimated at $400.

• Thieves stole a white 1998 Toyota Camry between 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 10:10 a.m. Oct. 3 out of a driveway on the 1500 block of Larch Drive. The owner told officers he may have dropped the car keys when he got out of the vehicle. Value was estimated at $1,000.

• Thieves stole a white wooden rocking chair between 10 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8 a.m. Oct. 2 from an apartment balcony on the 1500 block of Dempster Street. Value was estimated at $350.

• Vandals used green and black paint between Oct. 6 and 10 to draw 6-foot-5-inch tall graffiti on an exterior south side brick wall at Euclid School, 1211 N. Wheeling Road.

• Burglars stole coins and a utility knife between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and 6:45 a.m. Oct. 10 out of an unlocked 2010 Toyota Tundra in a driveway on the 300 block of Hiawatha Trail. Value was estimated at $70.

• Burglars stole a camera between 8 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7 a.m. Oct. 10 out of an unlocked 2010 Nissan Altima in a driveway on the 900 block of South Maple.

Prospect Heights

• Tenika L. Thomas, 38, of the 900 block of East 194th Street, Glenwood, was arrested Sept. 19 at a currency exchange at 656 N. Milwaukee Ave. and charged with two counts felony forgery. The report said she presented two fraudulent checks.

• Eduardo Martinez-Hernandez, 19, of the 200 block of Brougham, Wheeling, was arrested Sept. 19 during a traffic stop at Elmhurst and Palatine roads and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. The report said an officer found ammunition in his car.

• Maria L. Carreon-Arce, 46, of the 2000 block of North 18th Avenue, Melrose Park, was arrested Sept. 29 at the police department and charged with financial identification theft. The report said officers discovered that she was using the social security number belonging to a Prospect Heights man to try to apply for Medicaid. Court date is Oct. 26.

• Gregg S. Henning, 54, of the 400 block of South Waterman, Arlington Heights, was arrested Sept. 13 and charged with felony retail theft. The report said he was seen taking 31 bottles of alcohol between Sept. 5 and 13 from Tony's Fresh Market, 1241 N. Rand Road. Officers took him into custody at the Arlington Heights Police Department, where he had been arrested on charges of another retail theft.

• Guillermo Sierra-Moran, 53, of the 500 block of Wimbledon Circle, Prospect Heights, was arrested Oct. 9 on the 600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and charged with battery. The report said he punched a man several times. Court date is Nov. 14.

•Luis D. Kritikos, 47, of the 4800 block of West Roscoe, Chicago, was arrested Sept. 24 in an apartment common area on the 800 block of Piper Lane and charged with assault, criminal damage to property and battery. The report said he punched a male victim and punched a door. Court date is Nov. 3.

Wheeling

• Vandals broke the passenger's-side mirror and put several scratches on the front passenger's-side door, rear bumper, and rear quarter panel on a 2015 Volkswagen sedan between 8 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8 a.m. Oct. 2 in an apartment lot on the 1100 block of Forums Court. Damage was estimated at $1,400.

• Thieves stole a customer's blanket, four winter jackets, winter hat and two stuffed dog animals between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Oct. 8 out of a dryer at Laundry Room, 1201 W. Dundee Road. Value was estimated at $250.

• Burglars stole a garage door remote between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11:45 a.m. Oct. 11 out of an unlocked 2015 Honda Accord in a condominium lot on the 100 block of Prairie Park Drive. Value was estimated at $50.
