St. Charles Episcopal Church welcomes a new rector

St. Charles Episcopal Church recently announced it has a new rector, the Rev. Stacy Walker.

She celebrated her first service at St. Charles Episcopal Jan. 22.

Rev. Stacy was previously the rector at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in DeKalb. Before that, she served at St. Edmund's in Chicago and St. Alban's in Bay City, Michigan. In DeKalb, she started a neighborhood community garden with an affordable farmers market and established interfaith friendships between neighboring congregations.

Inclusion, hospitality, and advocacy in the church and civil society have been hallmarks of her leadership in the Episcopal Church, as she served as a delegate to the 59th Meeting of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and as a member of the Presidential Commission on Interfaith Initiatives at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Rev. Stacy is excited to continue in her 11th year of ordained ministry as the rector of St. Charles Episcopal Church. All are welcome to come and join any Sunday.

St. Charles Episcopal Church, 994 N. Fifth Ave. (Route 25), celebrates three Sunday morning Eucharist services. The building is wheelchair-accessible.
