Water Street Studios to host first Winterfest Art Market

The main gallery at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St. in Batavia, will hold its first juried Winterfest Art Market, Dec. 9-11.

If you're looking for one-of-a-kind gifts for the holidays, then the Winterfest Art Market should be at the top of your list!

With the work of 14 artists and artisans on display, there will be plenty of unique gift choices to fit every style, taste and budget - including handcrafted jewelry, stoneware, glassworks, functional and decorative wood objects, photographs, cards, imaginative craft items, and plenty of paintings, drawings, prints and other original artworks.

It will be open from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10-11.

Some of the featured artists will be: Anke Korioth of West Chicago, mixed media; Britni Ulrich of Chicago, paintings and glicee prints; Georgia Schwender of Geneva, cyanotype and gelliprints; JD Kammes of Wheaton, wheel-thrown functional stoneware; Tina Fischer of Elgin, abstract art and functional fused glass; Retta Hentschel of Aurora, decorative stained glass; Ivana Carman of Chicago, oil on canvas; Colin Sherrell of Oswego, contemporary functional and decorative wood; Gina Szulkowski of Chicago, fused glass wares; Danielle Crilly, acrylic and mixed media on canvas; Michael Waters, photography on paper and metal medias; Amanda Davila, digital color landscape photography; Dennis Gramlich of Geneva, watercolor; Carol Barrett, acrylic painting; Kathi Kuchler of Batavia, nature-focused watercolors; Laura Lynne of Aurora, hand-cut collages and glicee prints; Jamie Neely of Harding, Ill., colored pencil, acrylics, and marker; Laura Rizzardini of Oak Park, fiber art; Valerie William of St. Charles, recycled handmade hardware jewelry; Anne von Ehr of Aurora, abstract oil and mixed media; Faith Patterson of Marengo, landscapes; and Nancy Krahn of Algonquin, jewelry.

The work of a number of students from Water Street Studios School of Art will be on display at the Kane County Chronicle gallery, located on the second floor.

Both galleries will also be open throughout the month during regular hours: 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Founded in 2009, Water Street Studios, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, is committed to making the creative arts accessible to the Fox Valley community.
