Suburban businesses plan to lay off 343 workers

Suburban companies are expected to cut 343 workers through October, according to state documents released Thursday.

The suburban cuts are part of 956 jobs being eliminated at nine companies around Illinois, said the state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN reports for July. Businesses file WARN reports to give the state notice of the layoffs and the reports are issued monthly.

Suburban companies include:

Bank of America, 1600 Golf Road in Rolling Meadows, plans to lay off 141 workers due to consolidating branches. Layoffs are expected to take place in September.

• The Madden Shelter Residential Programs, part of Maryville Academy in Chicago, Bartlett and Des Plaines, said it closed and laid off 145 workers in July. Madden offered emergency housing for adolescent, pregnant and parenting young women, ages 14 to 20, who are in DCFS care, the website said.

UnitedHealth Group, 2441 Warrenville Road in Lisle, will lay off 57 workers in September.
