Garage sale raises money for veterans

A garage sale was held June 2-4 by the community women's group, New Friends & Neighbors of the Dundee Area, to benefit homeless veterans. The $700 proceeds went to the Sun City Lions Club program to create starter kits to help veterans with supplies necessary for a new home, like kitchen supplies, small appliances, towels and cleaning supplies.

This club began as a Welcome Wagon more than 40 years ago. It is open to any woman interested in building friendships through social and charitable activities. The club has held the Trivia Night at Randall Oaks for three years benefiting FISH Food Pantry, organized members to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children, and gathered for bunco games and monthly luncheons at local restaurants. They also offer a book club and "Secret Sisters" group, plus more ways to be involved. For details, contact Cathy Hoster at nfndundee@gmail.com.
