Larkin senior takes 3rd place in WYSE competition

Lynn Vega, a senior at Larkin High School, took third place at the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering competition Feb. 5 at Elgin Community College.

Seventy students from five different high schools competed in such fields as chemistry, biology, English, math, engineering, and physics. Lynn competed in the engineering division. She is a Project Lead The Way student who has completed three engineering courses at Larkin High School.

WYSE is a statewide competition sponsored by University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.

Larkin brought a team of 14 students who have been preparing for this competition for several months.

The team is coached by Diane Kriescher, Larkin's engineering teacher.
