Barrington Rotary under names new leaders

The Barrington Noon Rotary inducted Burke Groom, senior vice president of Barrington Bank & Trust Company, N.A., as its 2015-16 president during an installation dinner at Francesca's Famiglia, in downtown Barrington. The club is comprised of local leaders taking action on local causes. They are a chapter of Rotary International, a national service organization whose mission is to provide "Service Above Self".

Groom is a Rotary past president and member of the noon club since 2004. He manages the Community Banking division at Barrington Bank & Trust and has been with the bank since 2002. Burke and his wife, Pam, live in Barrington with their two children, Connor and Tyler.

During the Installation luncheon the 2015-16 Noon Rotary board was also inducted. The board includes: Groom as president; Anne Kristufek, a licensed clinical social worker, president elect; Paul Berlin of Lake Barrington Shores, treasurer; Rena Ballard, an elder attorney, secretary; Larry Barnett, first vice president of Investments, Wells Fargo Advisors, immediate past president; Frank McGovern, president of BMO Harris Bank Barrington, director of Membership; Kurt Marquardt, president of Marquardt of Barrington/Buick GMC, director of Fundraising; Alexis Portugal, director of Rotary Foundation; Joe Kelsch, director of Club Service; Norm May, president of Full Service Office Suites, director of Community Service; and Suzanne Corr, president/CEO of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, director of Public Relations.

The Barrington Noon Rotary is part of Rotary International, a global community of more than 1.2 million men and women dedicated to building a better world and advancing communities at home. Of the more major local projects for the Noon Rotary, it is heavily involved in supporting the pediatric families and patients of JourneyCare, funding and coordinating social programs and finding resources for individual patient needs. The Noon Rotary also provides considerable support for the Barrington High School Business Incubator Startup program, a program that teams real-world entrepreneurs and business experts as coaches to help students become true entrepreneurs and develop innovative new products or services. Other projects partner with the local food pantries, Barrington Giving Day, and many more.

The Barrington Noon Rotary has spearheaded many community projects and was a leading force behind the Barrington Field of Dreams, a major recreational area off Hart Road, that supports youth sports activities. Rotary International is known for its worldwide humanitarian efforts, for helping to eradicate polio worldwide, and for nurturing leaders to enhance their own communities.

The Barrington Noon Rotary meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday, at the Garlands of Barrington Performing Arts Center, 1000 Garlands Lane. Meetings feature weekly speakers designed to keep members educated and informed in the local community. Guests are always welcome and new members are always encouraged.
