Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters, Old Second Bank form partnership

The Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters is pleased to announce a partnership with Old Second Bank in an effort to raise funds for the band, choir and theater programs at Kaneland Harter Middle School and Kaneland High School.

The Boosters and Old Second Bank invite business and community members to help make a difference by contributing to the future success of the Kaneland band, choir and theater students.

For many years, the Kaneland music and theater programs has had a number of needs that the school district has not been able to fulfill due to a lack of funding. The Performing Arts Boosters has been able to meet the many smaller needs of the students and directors, but some of the larger needs have not been met.

Funds are needed to replace the high school marching band's three sousaphones (the large tubas, which are the signature of every marching band). The high school's sousaphones are circa 1980 and are in a state of severe disrepair.

Other items on the directors' wish lists include: replacement of the 20-year-old marching band uniforms that are worn, tearing and fraying at the collars and hems; new costumes for the Madrigal performers for the annual Madrigal Feast, which has been a Kaneland tradition for 37 years; replacement of microphones and headsets for the Harter Middle School drama department; participation in educational music festivals and nationwide competitions; and raincoats for the band to keep the instruments and wool uniforms dry and protected.

With an in-kind donation from KPI of Elburn, annual giving campaign letters were sent to area businesses.

For those who donate, the Boosters will publicize your business or organization as one that supports the performing arts in the schools and its ongoing efforts to enrich the schools' offerings. They also will accept anonymous donations.

Sponsors will be acknowledged at all Booster events; choir and band concerts; at the annual "Knight of Performances" dinner (last year 400 were in attendance); in the spring musical programs; on the Facebook page; and on the new website they are developing.

The Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters is registered with the IRS as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois Secretary of State.
