VNA Hospice offers 20th annual holiday memorial service

VNA Hospice invites community members to its 20th annual Holiday Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in the hospice sanctuary at VNA Health Care, 400 N. Highland Ave. in Aurora. After the service, there will be time for fellowship and refreshments with family, guests, VNA Hospice staff and volunteers.

The guest speaker will be Deacon Joe Dunham from New England Congregational Church in Aurora. Sue Gilla from Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora will provide music.

Names of those being honored will be read during a candle-lighting ceremony. Personalized memorial wooden stars will be provided for all attendees to be taken home as a keepsake, courtesy of VNA Hospice.

"This beautiful ceremony is a celebration of the lives of the ones we have lost," said Matt Merges, VNA Hospice chaplain, "It offers our families a time to honor and remember their loved ones and offers our staff a way to honor the patients who have left a mark on our souls."

Refreshments will be served in the hospice sanctuary at the conclusion of the service. To RSVP, contact Matt Merges at (630) 978-2532, ext. 8038.
