NCH Nurse Offers Healthcare Services at Township of Schaumburg

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (November 4, 2014) - Schaumburg Township residents now have easier access to healthcare services, thanks to a partnership between Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) and the Township of Schaumburg that will deliver coordinated healthcare programs and educational classes for the community.

Starting this week, an NCH community health nurse will provide health and wellness services at an office in the Township of Schaumburg building, 1Illinois Boulevard, Hoffman Estates. Josephine Gould, RN, MS, will be available for patients 24 hours per week.

"Most nurses care for one patient at a time," Gould says. "Community nursing is about offering wellness education and support to an entire population. Schaumburg Township has given me a wonderful opportunity and challenge."

A 35-year veteran nurse, Gould will offer educational programs, facilitate support groups and provide care for patients, including:

• Chronic disease management

• Nutrition advice

• Infant and child health and wellness services

• General health education, such as stress management, mental health awareness and parenting

• Referrals for patients with special healthcare needs and finding affordable medical care

• Domestic violence and abuse referrals

The nurse will be on site Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Gould will have convenient walk-in hours between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To schedule an appointment, email josephine.gould@nch.org or call 847-285-4551. Comments and suggestions for health and wellness offerings are always welcome.
