Health fair to focus on fun, food and exercise

Elgin, Ill. - Healthy food options and the importance of exercise are among the topics that will be presented during the upcoming Healthy Families Fun Fair at the Gail Borden Public Library.

Advocate Sherman Hospital will present the fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

In addition to healthy cooking, eating and exercise tips, Sherman Hospital pediatricians, dietitians and other experts will teach children and parents how to make healthy choices together through interactive games and activities. Free blood pressure and diabetes screenings will also be offered.

Information and activities will be presented in both English and Spanish, and children who complete their "passport to fitness" will receive a special gift.
