Huff Joins Human Needs and Global Resources Program at Wheaton College

Dr. James G. Huff recently joined the Wheaton College faculty as Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Human Needs and Global Resources.

Huff is a graduate of Southern California College, where he earned a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology. He also earned a doctorate in Anthropology from American University.

Previously, Huff served as Associate Professor of Anthropology at Vanguard University of Southern California, where he was honored as Faculty of the Year in 2006, 2012 and 2014.

Huff's teaching and research concentrates on the relationship between religious change, community development and human flourishing in contemporary Latin America. He is particularly interested in the rapid growth of the Pentecostal movement in El Salvador and how Pentecostal churches are altering the religious landscape of this historically Catholic nation-state.

"Words cannot express how excited I am about the opportunity to work and serve alongside the exemplary faculty, staff and students of Wheaton's Human Needs and Global Resources program," Huff says. "The program plays a fundamental role in equipping students from across the college to invest their whole lives into Jesus' kingdom and his redemptive work in the world."

"Dr. Huff has a desire to boost the research profile of the Human Needs and Global Resources program and its students," says Wheaton College Provost Dr. Stanton Jones. "His leadership will help the program further develop in its mission to equip students to confront the multiple challenges faced by peoples and nations of the Global South."
