The Wheaton Municipal Band Goes Dancing

Put on your dancing shoes and come to the ever-popular Wheaton Municipal Band evening of dance. On Thursday, July 10, at 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton, the Wheaton Municipal Band goes dancing. Come early, at 6:30 p.m. when Edward "Sarge" Sargent and his troupe from DeSarge Danceworld (Naperville) teaches the Tango. This popular event, "Dancing in the Park", gets everyone up on their feet and swaying to the music. It doesn't matter if you have two left feet or are the runner up to "Dancing with the Stars." Everyone can burn up the dance floor in front of the band shell.

The music for the evening 's concert focuses on all types of dances. The DeSarge Danceworld dancers demonstrate the Tango to Leroy Anderson's Blue Tango. The audience is then invited to show off what they learned during the pre-concert class and join in for a dance or two. Mambo Greats is new to the Wheaton Municipal Band repertoire. Sway to the jazz favorites. Toes will be tapping to Marvin Hamlisch's Showcase and Slavonic Dances by Dvorak.

The featured soloist for the evening is Technical Sgt. Joseph M. Bello, principal euphoniumist with The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Naperville, his career in the Air Force began in 1998.

Don't miss this ever-popular concert and dance class. Come at 6:30 p.m. to Memorial Park in Downtown Wheaton to begin dancing the Tango. Followed by the Wheaton Municipal Band Concert at 8:00 p.m. The evening is FREE. Bring a lawn chair or sit on the park benches. It is a wonderful evening.
