The Telly Awards has named OC Imageworks as a bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for their piece titled Kishwaukee College Emergency Preparedness Video. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
The video has the serious purpose of educating the staff at Kishwaukee College on proper procedures for evacuation or seeking shelter during campus emergencies, but the animated short sneaks in some fun and style while communicating this important information. Campus buildings are rendered as simple line drawings, but structures such as the new student center are easily recognized by their architectural features. Students, faculty, and emergency responders are represented by animated versions of the international symbol for a person, and there's even a brief walk on by a zombie, just to keep things interesting. The video provides a highly creative twist to the safety information video, which is too often dismissed as "just another training video."
"It was a real pleasure working with John Acardo and the rest of the human resources staff at Kishwaukee College on this project," says Brian Oster, Creative Director at OC Imageworks. "It proves that training videos can be both effective and fun if you have some imagination and are open to a different approach."
John Acardo, director of human resources at Kishwaukee College, echo's Oster's comments, "It was a pleasure to work with OC Imageworks to develop a fun, yet informative way to educate the 100's of employees of the college on one of the most important training topics -- emergency response."

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work -- entries do not compete against each other -- rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor. Approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.
"The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video," said Linda Day, executive director of the Telly Awards. "OC Imageworks' accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production."
