Mystic Waters and Chippewa Pool Open for Preseason

By 1:00pm on May 31, just an hour after opening, 350 people had taken their first plunge of the season at Mystic Waters Family Aquatic Center, 2025 Miner Street and over one hundred had splashed into Chippewa Pool, 197 N. Eighth Avenue. At Mystic, toddler Killian Thomas, 2, was the first down the tot slide in Beluga Beach, while Giuliana Granito, 2, explored the fountains on the splash pad. Across town at Chippewa Pool, Daniel Jesion, 8 was first to land a cannon ball off the diving board. "We are so excited to have this beautiful day," said Daniel's mother. "He has been counting down to the pool opening since the beginning of May."

One of the largest water parks in Northern Illinois, Mystic Waters is open for pre-season June 1, 12:00-7:00pm, and June 2-6, from 4:00-7:00pm. Regular season is June 7-August 10, weekdays 11:00am-9:00pm and weekends, 11:00am-8:00pm. Post-season, August 11-17, the pool is open from noon to 7:00pm, and on August 23-24, the pool is open for the final weekend from noon to 7:00pm. The popular water park features two 37-foot slides in Otter's Run, drop slides and cliff dive platforms in Sea Lion Falls, a 550-foot lazy river in Crocodile Cove where patrons can relax and float on inner tubes, Dolphin Bay, a zero depth leisure pool featuring both roped-off lanes for lap swimming and a child-size dolphin slide, and Beluga Beach: a splash pad area with a jungle gym on a non-slip surface, water sprays, and fountains. It's perfect for tots and non-swimmers.

Chippewa Pool is also open for preseason, June 1, 12:00-7:00pm, and June 2-6, 4:00-7:00pm. All pools open for the regular season on June 7. Days and hours of operation are listed on the Park District website, www.DPParks.org.
