Palatine Lions Club names 2014 scholarship winners

The Palatine Lions Club awarded three $750 scholarships to students from local high schools at its May 15 meeting.

The club is proud to recognize the qualities and efforts of these students throughout their high school careers. Scholarship recipients are:

Crystal Rivera of Palatine High School, who will attend Eastern Illinois University in the fall. While at Palatine she was active in the flag squad, cultural awareness, Peer Mediation, Trust, and other civic clubs. Her goal is to major in education.

Aisha Namuwonga of William Fremd High School, who will attend Harper College in the fall. While at Fremd, Aisha was involved in the dance club and was strongly dedicated to her classes and to her family.

Teague Hampton from Rolling Meadows High School will attend DePauw University and will major in Economics or other Business field. He was active in tennis, golf, wrestling and the Frisbee club. In the community, Teague volunteered at the Relay For Life events and for St. Jude's Hospital.

All of these students are excellent academic students and are leaders in their school and community. These fine young people are an example of excellence in our schools. The Palatine Lions Club is proud to support these fine students as they pursue their goals through higher education and hope they will pursue volunteerism as part of their future.
