Thousands lose power in Northwest suburbs

Some 8,200 ComEd customers throughout the Northwest suburbs didn’t have power for almost two hours Thursday due to a problem at a substation in Palatine.

The outage occurred at 5:30 p.m., affecting homes in Palatine, Palatine Township, Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows, Inverness and Barrington, according to Arlana Johnson, a ComEd spokeswoman.

All power was restored by 7:10 p.m., she said.
