Smart Farm of Barrington to hold a Fall Vegetable Seedling Sale

It's time to think about a fall vegetable garden! As temperatures begin to drop, you can plant vegetables that grow well in the cooler weather of autumn. Have fun starting a fall vegetable garden or extend the season of you current vegetable production with new plants.

Cool weather seedlings for the fall can be hard to find in nurseries! So, on Saturday, August 31, Smart Farm will hold a fall vegetable seedling sale from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. The sale will take place at Smart Farm's hoop house located on the Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Campus, 450 W. Highway 22 in Barrington.

Available seedlings will be broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale and more. All seedlings are organic and locally grown. To pre-order, please email smartfarms2@gmail.com. Pre-orders are greatly appreciated!

Not everyone is aware that new vegetable seedlings can be planted for an autumn harvest. Smart Farm's head gardener will be at the sale to answer questions. Funds from the sale will assist Smart Farm in its mission to help educate our community about the benefits of sustainable gardening and healthy eating, and to assist Smart Farm in feeding our neighbors in need.
