Have a picnic July 13 in 1880s Schaumburg

Travel back in time for a picnic!

Schaumburg Park District will hold the free Deutsch-heim Day: German American Picnic from noon to 3 p.m., July 13 at Volkening Heritage Farm at Spring Valley, 201 S. Plum Grove Road. Historical interpretive staff will reenact a typical summer day in 1880s Schaumburg.

“We're very excited for this unique event,” said Patty Kennedy, farm program coordinator for Heritage Farm. “It's something new that hasn't been done before so it's exciting to see how it will turn out.”

Participants should bring a family picnic for lunch. Beverages, beer and food will be available for purchase.
